What is The Saints Trust?
In a Nutshell
The Saints Trust is a democratic, not-for-profit organisation, committed to strengthening the voice of supporters in the decision making processes at Southampton Football Club, and strengthening the links between the Club and the community of Southampton and the surrounding areas. The Trust is registered as an Industrial and Provident Society.
What is an Industrial and Provident Society?
Supporters Direct recommend that Trusts be registered as an Industrial and Provident Society with the Registrar of Friendly Societies. As such all its actions and conduct will be regulated by the Financial Services Authority under the provisions of the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts, 1965 - 1978.
More information on this subject is available on the Supporters Direct website.
What are the aims of The Saints Trust?
- To strengthen the bonds between the Club and the local community.
- To work for the football and financial success of the club.
- To encourage and promote supporter representation on the club's board acting as communication to the supporters.
- To acquire shares in the club, formally creating a supporters' stakeholding.
Why Join The Saints Trust?
- Every individual member strengthens the voice of the Trust. The Trust will play a more important role in helping communications between the fanbase and the Club if it has the moral support of thousands of supporters combined with the financial muscle of representing a sizeable shareholding in the Club.
- With the Club openly supporting the idea of a Supporter Director your membership brings this idea one step closer to reality. This is a significant step in the role of Supporters representation and your membership will play a part in this happening.
- In addition, the majority of your membership fees go towards acquiring shares in the Club, and so over a period of years the Trust will begin to build a stake in the Club.
