Shares via The Saints Trust

There are a number of ways for Members and the Trust to gain from share ownership.

Trust-Owned Shares

Under this method, shares in Southampton Leisure Holdings plc are purchased using Trust finances either at the discretion of the Trust Board or by an agreeable majority vote by the Members at a General Meeting. These shares remain the property of the Trust until such time as the Trust elects to sell them.

It is expected that any excess funds in the Trust account will be used to purchase shares in the company, most of which will come from membership subscriptions and other donations.

Member-Owned Shares with Proxy

Under this method, shares remain the property of the Trust Member, and as such retain all rights to dividend payments and keep the share certificate, if provided. However, the Member assigns the voting rights to their shares to the Trust, allowing the Trust to have a larger number of votes behind it. The Member is entitled to retract any proxy voting assignment at any time in writing.

It is expected that this will be the largest contributor to the Trust's voting pool, at least in the short to medium term, until such time that the finances allow for a large collective ownership by the Trust.

Member-Owned Shares Purchased through The Saints Trust

We are currently investigating the possibility of setting up a ShareSave scheme for Saints Trust Members to contribute a regular amount every month which will go towards purchasing shares in the Member's name. More information will be posted here when we have it.
